While in Cambodia i watched this amazing investigative documentary about Khmer Rouge brutality and how western governments helped it. Surprisingly the western countries are - Singapore, Germany, Sweden and USA. The film revels that Singapore under the cover of Tourism runs a multi billion dollar arms business providing arms to all such groups across the world. One mention in the film is about UN leasing out the land piece in Thailand to USA to store arms which were supplied to guerrillas. Something like more than 3 million were killed during 3 years and worlds UN agencies including WHO, Geneva banned Cambodia from all the benefits agencies like WHO pass on to poor countries. Worst was to hear about BUSH government was part of all this. I guess this family has created wars everywhere in the world and enjoyed highest positions everywhere...so shameful to see and watch everywhere here in Cambodia. UN even banned Cambodia from all international AID. Young here speak painfully about all this. They are very smart, resourceful and are struggling hard to come up in life. While walking on the streets we could see malnutrition everywhere. Made us feel sad. The trip looks like was dominated with all this than the beauties of Angkor Wat and other things. I realised why a country should have a strong political leadership and why there is a great demand for another world order in 21st Century. Some more thoughts later .....But watch this documentary for sure.
