While in #EastAfrica to do volunteer work teaching Maasai children, I stayed with a #Maasai woman, Fatuma (click: youtu.be/WmfqMVwpOo0 ) living in #Kenya near the #Tanzania border. The read the New York Times every day....perfect English, owned several businesses, was politically active in her Maasai village region and planned running as the first woman in Kenyas parliament. She broke every mold I had of a Maasai woman. When I returned a year later to set up Zohar African Safaris (zoharafricansafaris), she had died of cancer the day of my arrival (heartbreak!). See farewell video on the last day my assignment.
