While it is not so surprising since Kerala is not exactly the secular haven it is made out to be, I would want to know how do they define a riot, and how do they identify them. Also what it is the intensity and range of these riots, in terms of persons involved and casualties. Districts like Kannur, Kottayam, and Malappuram are known for sporadic intercommunal conflicts, but rarely any of them (atleast the ones I know of) have had more than a dozen persons involved and I cant think of any with casualties with a two digit figure. The worst that was widely reported was sometime in the noughties and even then the figure was somewhere around 7 or 8. Im not vilifying any of those tragedies, just a genuine question regarding the intensity. scroll.in/article/677240/The-Indian-state-with-the-highest-riots-cases-every-year-is-not-Uttar-Pradesh
