While it is true, Kaylis colon is still distended (dialated/huge), there is thought to be some minor improvements!!! This means Kayli is going in the right direction! The Hospitalist is consulting with the surgical and GI teams, and if they all think its safe, Kayli will start slow feeds today (since we cant get a line in, and she needs to eat)!!! The hospitalist wants to challenge Kayli, to work her colon again! If Kayli takes this challenge, we know she will do well! :D The nurses gave Kayli her morning (bed) bath, and Mommy dressed Kayli and put her upright in her wheelchair. Kayli was sure to voice her displeasure when we touch her abdomen, but is now settled peacefully in front of the Vecta machine and is doing well! Sitting upright and moving around may help her colon to move again. Kayli is still on her Passi Muir (speaking valve) during the day, and has not needed oxygen. Fortunately, even though her abdomen is distended, it has not compromised her ability to breathe well! :D For some reason, her arms and hands are VERY cold, so we put fuzzy socks on her hands, and a warmed blanket on her. Without jinxing her (knocking on wood), it looks like Kayli is pulling through this without an IV line in place !!! If I werent here myself, I wouldnt believe it! lol Please keep saying prayers of support for Kayli, they are working!!! We are Praising the Lord! Thank you all for your love and support!
