While it was announced earlier this year that Jane Fonda would play the part of Nancy Reagan in the upcoming film “The Butler,” Fonda chose to stir the pot even more by wearing a “Hanoi Jane” T-shirt during an interview promoting the movie. “I don’t think that whatever differences there might be in our politics really matters you know,” Fonda says in a promotional video. “As an actor, I approach her as a human being and I happen to know that she’s not unhappy that I’m playing her.” But there are plenty who are unhappy about it. In April, veterans angered that Fonda had called Americans “war criminals” during the Vietnam War” threatened to boycott the movie, according to the Daily Mail. Larry Reyes, a Navy veteran who started the Facebook page “Boycott Hanoi Jane Playing Nancy Reagan”, described her casting as a “slap in the face.” The page has over 20,000 followers. But Fonda didn’t back down telling her critics to “get a life.” The Daily Mail reported: In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, she said: “If it creates hoopla, it will cause more people to see the movie… I figured it would tweak the right. Who cares?” Watch the video via the New York Post here. 6 inShare 0 If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment or subscribing to the RSS feed Other BizPac Review Articles You May Like: Fla. location lands sequel to touching family film ‘Dolphin Tale’ Fla. location lands sequel to touching family film ‘Dolphin Tale’
