While listening to NPR this morning I had the following thoughts. One, in 1974, after journalists caught the government in a coverup of illegal wiretapping the president of the United States was forced to resign. Today, journalists who release evidence of such crimes have to flee for their lives. Also, it occurs to me that Edward Snowden is an NSA employee, a spy...and because we know that the government will not change its position on this issue, we have to wonder if the whole affair is just an intricate way of letting the American people know this, to intimidate. Snowden could be performing a psy-op. Allowing people to debate an issue, without actually giving them the power to manage policy is a great way to weaken political resolve.
