While listening to one of my children reading The Little Red Hen, he suddenly stopped and asked, Mrs. Putnam, you know how I have hens in the coop that my Dad and I built? I replied in the affirmative. Well, one of the young ones is missing. Then I said, Perhaps it went for a walk around the neighborhood? Then he said, Oh no, Mrs. Putnam... he got eaten! I then expressed empathy by saying how I was sad to hear this news. He then replied, Thats OK, Mrs. Putnam, its just like the food-chain you taught us about! Hmm... really made me think! :)
