While men should not hit women, women shouldnt take advantage of - TopicsExpress

While men should not hit women, women shouldnt take advantage of that taboo either. Consider the Ray Rice case. When he was arrested in February, no one doubted he had knocked his fiancée cold in the elevator. When he was put into a domestic violence diversion program (a very common and relatively effective way of dealing with these offenses), it was understood by all that it was because he had hit her in the elevator. Why was he suspended for two games if not for hitting Janay in the elevator? Now suddenly a scandal site produces a video and everyone is wailing and gnashing their teeth. All it shows is what we already knew had happened. (Quite in fact, if shows him backing away to the far side of the elevator and only hitting her when she rushed him.) Why should the video change anything? Why should he be fired and now suspended indefinitely after he had already served half his punishment? Not like it was a new assault. Not like we didnt know what happened in the first place. Is it really the job of the NFL to police every little thing players do in life from smoking a joint to saying something racist to a drunken tussle with the old lady? Political correctness run amok. Where does it end?
