While my election was successful, the bid of our excellent Williamson County School Board members were not. The Governor of Tennessee came this past week applauding our great County Schools the Board members and Teacher who make it the envy of the State and one of the best in the Nation. Weve had business men express that our School system is a huge attraction for business and families moving here. Well.. after all that... the Billionaire Koch Brothers and Glen Beck of Fox News fame (yes the paranoid delusional one) his 9-12 Project spent Thousands of $$$$ dollars against our incumbent, verifiably and blatantly SUCCESSFUL School Board Candidates. The candidates crime? Common Core which is a Federally mandated National minimum standard of education. Common Core, while not perfect has been taught in our schools for 3 years now and apparently taught VERY SUCCESSFULLY according to our Childrens test scores. It was my hope that the moderate Republicans in our County would see the very radical direction the Board Members Elect wanted to take our schools. It was my hope that the contrast was crystal clear and that what our Conservative Incumbents (they were all Republican incumbents) had accomplished with our Teachers and students was proof enough to deserve re-election. That ended last night.... All incumbents were replaced by each one of the Koch and Beck backed candidates. The agenda they will advance was made NO SECRET and in complete contrast to the Incumbents. Myself and many conservative parents and teachers in this county are in dismay over the election. As Ive said before, when you elect radicals that boast a radical agenda you need not be surprised when things radically change. Maybe one day the moderates in the Republican party will stop being shouted down and bullied out and take their party back and stop the crazy. Our City, County, State and Nation deserve political parties dealing in reality.
