While my heart goes out to ASL sufferers & I clap for the marketing & promotional genius of the creators of the ice bucket challenge ... I cant help but remember the abysmal support in terms of donations that we received for our plea to end female Foeticide in India & other such issues facing our country on Satyamev Jayate . We were okay watching in shock , sympathising & even crying when O Ri Chiraiya played out to the nation but when it came to loosening our purse strings for a cause & one that is so fundamentally disturbing , hardly anyone felt the drive to either spread the word or shell out a couple of hundreds , India scores a big ZERO when it comes to charity & community building in general outside of donating to religious trusts & bribing the Gods ... & Yea yea , I know all the arguments against my complaint ... & yet I cant help marvel at the now hep-fashionable crowds nominating people , sending links for donations & feeling literally cool & generous by supporting the cause .. As I said before , kudos to the marketing genius of the Americans . We have lots to learn from you . Full respect to you & yes I too have donated to your worthwhile cause .
