While on a six weeks project in Brazil I was invited to preach in a Catholic college . I preached on the Absolute necessity of every individual establish ing a personal faith relationship with God through receiving Christ into their life! When I invited the students to make the choice to repent and receive Christ , I was literally Astounded. I asked those who were ready to accept The Lord Jesus as personal Savior , to stand. The entire student body of over 2,000 quickly rose to their feet. I turned to my Translator , Dr Walter Kaschel , and whispered , they must have misunderstood me . This seems unlikely that this many people could be receiving Christ all at one time. He replied , they understand . I asked Dr Kaschel to have them be seated. I proceeded to ask, do you understand that receiving Jesus is accepting his standards? His way of life? He has high ethical and moral standards ! He requires that you turn your back on sin and live, in His power, a holy life. NOW,are you truly giving your life to Christ?. Are you choosing this morning to allow Jesus Christ to live His life in and through you ? If you are Absolutely confident that you are now committing your life to Christ , will you please stand again. They all stood! Still Baffled that 2,000 plus students in a religious school would all be lost and now would be saved together, I had them seated once more. As I sincerely struggled to lead correctly in this truly sensitive moment, I bowed my head and was asking God what to do... I felt the touch of a slight hand on my shoulder. I looked up into the tearful face of a deeply concerned Catholic nun . She whispered to me, Sir , please let them be converted... They are sincere and some of us who know Christ personally in the new birth have been praying for this glorious moment. By this time hundreds of these college students had fallen on their knees. The Spirit of God was moving powerfully . I heard sobbing all across the auditorium . In deep humanity , with fear and trembling, I went back over the simple gospel and reaffirmed their need to pray in faith and repentance asking Jesus Christ into their life. I took my seat and watched and listened as that college auditorium became a sacred birthing place as these precious students entered the Kingdom! THANK YOU LORD. For over an hour Dr Koshel , who had translated for Billy Graham in his giant Crusade in Brazil , lead them in assurance and instructed them in the essentials of the Christian life. It was indeed a glorious day. I am delight to also inform you that several nuns were also saved in this service. Again... Glory to God !
