While organizing my photos for the Genealogy Do-Over, I came - TopicsExpress

While organizing my photos for the Genealogy Do-Over, I came across some photos that helps tell the story of our ancestors who arrived in 1630. If you can image four families living in either one of these habitats, you will have a sense of how life in the colonies began for the first Stearns that step foot on this soil. They left England to seek religious freedom. Leaving behind the comforts of their time for the unknown wilderness. These habitats would be the size of most tents used for camping today. Both of these structures included a fire/chimney area. Photos taken by June Stearns Butka at the 1630 Pioneer Village Salem, Massachusetts. The third photo demonstrates what room is left when two 6 footers standing in them. Our ancestors live, ate, cooked, taught the children and slept in this space.
