While shopping for vacation clothes, Sue and her husband passed a display of bathing suits. It had been at least ten years and twenty pounds since Sue had even considered buying a bathing suit, so she sought her husbands advice. “What do you think?” she asked. “Should I get a bikini or an all-in-one?” “Better get a bikini,” he replied. “Youd never get it all in one.”…..He is still in intensive care! Healing scripture: Luke 12: 29 And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. 30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. 32 Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Good morning, the word for today is training - the education, instruction, or discipline of a person or thing that is being prepared for an event, a sport, a work, an expected activity. At Sylacauga High School, our football coach, Coach Tom Calvin, had strict training rules for his football players. They had a special diet regimen – no candy or soft drinks; each young man had to walk down the opposite side of the hall from their girl friend; they had to maintain a specific image (no facial hair or long hair styles), etc. Basically they lived, ate and drank football – physically, mentally and through discipline – it was their only other life outside of their school class work which of course had to be acceptable as well! Focusing on football was the goal of the players and it paid off on Friday nights on the football field. Tom Calvin coached 20 years at Sylacauga High and had a very respectable record of 134 wins 69 losses 10 ties. He knew what it took to effectively prepare his young men; for each game was vital! As followers of Jesus Christ, we are essentially in training. The things God allows us to experience, scriptures we read, worship time, meditation time, readies us for anytime God brings someone to us. 2 Timothy 4:2b is a charge to all believers, “be prepared in season and out of season” to be the hope in Christ that someone needs! We are to view everyone as an opportunity to share Jesus, either openly or by example. “So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting mens sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christs ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christs behalf: Be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5: 16-20).” Our training happens as we walk with Jesus all day long – all life long! Walk with the Lord in the cool of the morning, Walk with the Lord in the heat of the day Walk with the Lord as the evening draws to a close Walk with Him, He’ll reveal His perfect way Jesus desires this training for us – Luke 12: 32b, “… it is your Fathers good pleasure to give you the kingdom” so we can help others find the Kingdom of God!! Come, let us worship the Lord!! Worship CD He is my Rock - $10; Christmas CD Still King of All Kings - $10; Devotion book - Pocket Praise – $25: Thirty one daily devotions, Illustrated by Jennifer Lieuallen, comes with a companion CD of Scripture and Songs for each day.
