While sitting at my bank (J.P. Morgan - Chase) in MDR this AM I - TopicsExpress

While sitting at my bank (J.P. Morgan - Chase) in MDR this AM I noticed that the background music up above wasnt your normal elevator music. Talking Heads, Go-Gos, 10,000 Maniacs. I asked my banker where the music came from, who selected it. Answer was HQ. The locals have no say. She said that there is someone in corporate charged with studying what people want to hear all around the country and in different parts of a given city. Specifically what people like to hear at each different branch location based on demographics. Here in LAs West side (maybe specific just to the MDR branch), she said the J.P. Morgan - Chase audio feed is different from LAs Korea Town, East LA, and so on. In some areas a good percentage of Mexican (Spanish language) music & songs. But surely there must be a small number of feeds that can be repurposed across the country based on *someone*s idea of what the right thing is? Do they select on median income? Who records data on the cultural/racial makeup of a particular banks clientele? Who wouldda thought. And who gets a job like that? What is the job description? What HR person even knows how to interview for that position?
