While some of us are qualified to build bridges into the world of Bhakti-yoga, the rest of us must remain focused on passing through the doorway into the castle, pasture or garden of Bhakti, in support of such causes. Guru gives us the keys through mantras, applied vocabulary, practices and service. However, we create the door and the doorway through our perception. Without the doors of perception, any number of keys cannot unlock access to the inner path of spiritual growth. Our very nature is the doorway. Our behavior is the door. Both the doorway and the door must match, or else our desire to cross new thresholds of spiritual insight will lack integrity. The Bhagavad Gita is the field manual that helps us understand how our behavior and our nature form the doors of perception. With Gitas help we can analyze our behavior objectively according to universal standards and subjectively according to our individual nature. New perspectives on how and why we behave guide us to discover who we are in relation to Divinity. In order to work with our nature and change our behavior to be favorable for Bhakti, we should try to read Bhagavad Gita as both the key to unlocking the door, as well as the instructions for building the door and doorway within our consciousness. Krishna Consciousness is the prominent name for Bhakti-yoga because Sri Krishna is revealing that He is the doorway and the door. Consciousness of Krsna is the starting point, the means and the goal of Bhakti-yoga, Krsna Bhakti.
