While subbing, I asked my class where in the world they would most want to visit. A Lao student spoke up and said, my home country of Laos...there would be lots of soldiers and I would learn a lot. I realized I knew squat about Laos. Turns out its the most heavily bombed country, per capita, in the world. The equivalent of a planeload of bombs every eight minutes for nine years, or a ton of bombs for every person in the country—more than what American planes unloaded on Germany and Japan combined during World War II. motherjones/politics/2014/03/laos-vietnam-war-us-bombing-uxo
