While the Christmas Season is generally a joyous, happy time for - TopicsExpress

While the Christmas Season is generally a joyous, happy time for most everyone we should remember that for many it is an extremely difficult time. Many will spend their first Christmas without their spouse, parent, brother/sister, child, or close friend. The fact that many families come together is a reminder to some that they are not able to be with family. While many celebrate with gifts, food, and fun there are others who have nothing. I will preach a funeral on Christmas Eve for a man who had just celebrated fifty years of marriage. It will be a difficult Christmas for his family. The last time I took part in a funeral on Christmas Eve was nine years ago when we buried our Mom. Each Christmas is a stark reminder of how much we miss her. Mom loved Christmas. It was probably her favorite time of year. That was one of many wonderful gifts that she bestowed upon her children! Dear Friends, I don’t mention any of this as an attempt to gain sympathy or to try to squelch any joy and happiness that the Holiday Season brings. Maybe just as a reminder that we should all be aware of others around us. May God bless you and your family with a wonderful Holiday Season.
