While the Obama administration feverishly tries to spin this recent debacle, the candor of Jonathon Gruber continues to haunt them. To make matters worse, a top Democrat Senator, New York’s Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, appeared on ABC’s “This Week” to try and spin the Obamacare deception and offered her own brand of defense that seems to center on “the ends justified the means” in terms of lying to the American people. During the interview, Sen. Gillibrand stated: (emphasis added) Martha Raddatz: Did you feel misled by Obama? Sen. Gillibrand: He should have just been more specific. Because the point is, if you’re being offered a terrible health care plan that the minute you get sick you’re going to have to go into bankruptcy. Those plans should never be offered. Raddatz: So were you misled? Gillibrand: He should have just been specific. No, we all knew the whole point of the plan is to cover things people need like preventive care, birth control, pregnancy. How many women the minute they get pregnant might risk their coverage? How many paid more because of their gender, because they might get pregnant? Those are the reforms we’re talking about. For those that don’t speak evasive politician, allow me to translate: “We knew we were lying to the American people but we figured, ‘Hey, the ends justify the means and the American people are too stupid to know what they need.’” In fact, that can pretty much define the Democratic game plan.
