While the debate is on about Smt. Smriti Iranis qualification or lack of it to run HRD ministry, I fully agree with her choice to be there. It is understandable that highly educated engineers and research scholars get offended to see that their Minister is Less Educated than them. I also saw some friends mentioning that Kiran Mazumdar Shaw kind of capable people should adorn such ministries. Reality of Ministry is that it is nothing but a great PR platform. A Minister is a sensible, cooperative, patient and persistent go getter, need not be specialist in any field. The challenge in any ministry is human related and not content related. We have seen a great economist who failed utterly in managing people while illiterate Kamarajar was a very successful CM of TN. Specialists in any field tend to pamper their area of specialization and hence, generalists make a balance. Also that Indian education misses priority on Sanskar, respect to culture and heritage; it is the duty of HRD to build it back into education. After all, capacity building is not just building universities and degrees, it is also about creating a good human being or least literate but skilled farmer. What do you say?
