While the pictures floating around about breaking peoples car windows if you see an animal in it, are humorous, DONT DO THAT! If you do, you just made yourself the criminal in the eyes of the law. You can help that animal without getting thrown in jail. Follow the steps in this photo to a tee. IF and ONLY if, you see the animal showing serious signs of distress inside the car should you call a witness to prove that the animals life was indeed in danger, make sure you inform authorities that the animal is showing signs of serious distress, record it with your cell phone and attempt to open the car door. While cars can become ovens, dont forget that a dog pants which helps it keep cool so dont act too rashly and cause yourself to be thrown in jail. Also, as in a case I recently heard of, make sure the car is actually not running. If it is, it most likely means the animal is in air conditioning. Kind of sucks for the man in Indiana who busted open a car window and is now charged with vandalism and the dog was sound asleep on the back seat cool as a cucumber since the car was running and the air conditioner was too.
