While the urgency of the death row dog is apparent, it is important to realize the importance of sharing the dogs available in rescue. It is critical to get the dogs in rescue adopted out if a rescue organization is to be able to take in the next urgent death row dog..URGENT? DEATH ROW DOG? FOREVER HOME NEEDED? SAFE? AT RISK? RESCUED? What does it all mean? REALLY???? URGENT? DOG IN NEED OF RESCUE? FOREVER HOME? DEATH ROW? Dog rescuers are a passionate group of people. Eagerly rising up to share information on death row dogs. Cross-posting, Tweeting, emailing - in essence, pleading for assistance as a dog faces imminent euthanasia. These same individuals have an Achilles tendon....while they passionately network to save the life of a death row dog, they often fail to share stories about those same dogs after they are safely in a rescue organization. These dogs that are saved go somewhere - they typically end up in a non-profit dog rescue, where they can often spend weeks, or even months (sadly, sometimes years) sitting and waiting for a family. While the urgency of the death row dog is apparent, it is important to realize the importance of sharing the dogs available in rescue. It is critical to get the dogs in rescue adopted out if a rescue organization is to be able to take in the next urgent death row dog. If a safe dog is taking up a kennel run, or occupying a foster home, the rescues may not be able to pull that next totally adoptable, wonderful, perfect death row dog that desperately needs a place to go. Another important fact to consider is the cost that these rescue organizations take on. Saving a dog in one particular moment is one thing - housing, feeding, and medicating them for weeks, or months, on end is another - these rescues depend on donations to survive. Cross-posters and dog lovers, take note - please take the time to share information on the non-urgent dogs in rescue. Help them to find their homes. Help share the stories about rescue organizations across the country. Celebrate their good work and share their success stories. Celebrating the dogs that find homes, especially those that are seniors, or special needs (such as the 5-legged dog), helps to bolster the spirits of the weary dog rescuers that are bombarded daily by stories of neglect, abuse and utter sadness. Take a moment to read, and share, the good that is being done. Let your friends and family know about the special dog rescues that are working so hard to save lives. Many people cant adopt, but they can donate. Let them know about these wonderful rescues (both independent and organizations) that are going above and beyond to help the dogs in need. So, keep up the great work at cross posting for the many death row dogs across the country, but also, take the time to share the good work and positive stories about the dogs that are already saved, but who are still in need of a family. Thanks...PLEASE SHARE. PLEASE DONATE, PLEASE ADOPT, PLEASE FOSTER.
