While this photo of course looks cruel. I have to disagree with the concept. Have you ever had to remove quills from your dogs face & mouth? Not fun. Up here in the country we have wild life and we live with them. It is their land not ours. (if we could only get them to pay the taxes) When you let your dog out it needs to be on a lead for its own protection if you are not out with it. Vixen has a generous 25ft lead when she has to go out. When I am with Vixen no mater where we go If we are at my little cabin or up on my property on the mountain she never has to be restrained. Look on my timeline to see pictures of the bear that came to visit our big party we just had up here. We had a big fire going. Vixen was free the whole time. I have often slept out on the ground next to the fire with Vixen. It is only 10 acres but it is on a mountain surrounded by a thousand acres of deep woods. As long as I am with Vixen I only have to whisper. Vixen by my side and she is right there. But you can imagine how much trouble a dog like mine who can run like that and navigate that kind of terrain can get into left unsupervised. I am sorry but a good lead is a necessary fact of life for an unsupervised dog that wants to be outside.
