While this practice is nowhere near as common in Ontario our inquiries even with limited response indicate it does happen. There is no policy or guidelines in Ontario as to the practice. There is no tracking of how often or why hotels-motels are used however infrequently. There should be. I have written the Ontario Minister of Children and Youth encouraging her to create practice guidelines and track the placement of her children. If and when Bill 8 passes my Office will investigate.
