While we had a FANTASTIC time making it to the podium at the Mid-Atlantic Agility Showcase this weekend, I am **infuriated** to find out about the multiple handlers who continued to run dogs with contagious illnesses (vomiting and diarrhea) without disclosing this to other competitors or the trial committee. My own dog Madeline became VIOLENTLY ill during the car ride home (see prior clean up photos) something that would have possibly been preventable if contagious dogs werent being pranced around the ring and crating area. Had I know, I would have taken precautions, moved my dogs out of the building and limited my time around the rings. In fact, I immediately messaged one of the trial chairpersons from our car ride home once I knew my dog was ill. As a veterinarian, who is in contact with all kinds of cooties, my dogs have a very hearty immune system to the typical pathogens and even some oddball shelter/rescue ones. They are also fully vaccinated and on proper preventative care. Ive done my part to ensure their health and the thereby improving the health of other dogs. So I ask, what kind of competitor choses to walk a sick dog to the line for a chance to Q over the health of their own dog (clearly not taking into account the health of everyone elses dogs)? This to me is the ultimate in poor sportsmanship and I hope karma bit you in the ass real bad. Competitors like that are selfish and just plain suck. I wish all the vomiting and diarrhea can now infect those handlers & the dogs can heal & feel better soon.
