While we live in these earthly bodies, we groan and sigh, but it’s not that we want to die and get rid of these bodies that clothe us. Rather, we want to put on our new bodies so that these dying bodies will be swallowed up by life. I’m not saying this to condemn you. I said before that you are in our hearts, and we are in this together with you. For I fully expect and hope that you will never be ashamed, but that you will continue to be bold for Christ, as you have been in the past. And I trust that your life will bring honor to Christ. This is a trustworthy saying: If we die with him, we will also live with him. If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.
