While working on an early to mid-nineteenth century Euro-Canadian site in York Region, Erikas crew uncovered this great-looking (but counterfeit) Half Penny token, as well as a... projectile point? This isnt completely unusual. Sometimes when we work on historical sites we stumble upon pre-contact Aboriginal projectile points. We actually found a 4,000-year-old point during the excavations of the first Toronto General Hospital Site downtown. Perhaps the projectile point was a keepsake for someone living in the nineteenth-century -- they may have found the point elsewhere, held onto it for a time and then subsequently lost it. Or perhaps there actually was a pre-contact Aboriginal occupation on the same site as a Euro-Canadian settlement. After all: good real estate is good real estate.
