While you’re doing your weekly shopping we hope you will consider picking up some extra school supplies and/or backpacks for our school supply drive. This year our school supply donation will benefit children just down the street from us at Downtown Elementary Magnet Academy Columbus Georgia, a Title 1 school in Muscogee County. Each year they have a large population of homeless children starting school there and parents often have to choose between struggling to buy the already discounted consignment school uniforms, or struggling to purchase school supplies. Donation baskets are set up in the foyer of the Parish Office where a needed supply list can be found. The drive ends Sunday, August 3. Be sure your children and grandchildren bring their backpacks to the 10:30 service Sunday, August 3 for the much beloved annual Blessing of the Backpacks. We will bless the bags they will be taking to school along with all the newly donated backpacks stuffed full of generous school supply donations. Don’t miss it!
