Whilst it is commendable that the University of Malta shall be - TopicsExpress

Whilst it is commendable that the University of Malta shall be expanding to include better facilities for students it is a shame that the plan shall continue to promote the use of vehicles and comes at the detriment of an agricultural area. Parking shall always be a problem in such a tiny island where no one car pools or uses public transport.Creating more parking spaces is not a solution to the problem, it is merely a temporary band aid over a gushing wound. Malta is littered with cars and traffic is constantly increasing. There needs to be sustainable change where incentives are implemented so as to increase car pooling and the use of public transport. This will lead to a decrease in traffic along with a decrease in the emissions produced. As is Malta will one day end up being one massive traffic jam. It is a crying shame that in such a small but well developed country the transportation system is so lacking. We ask you to do two things. Next time youre in your car have a look around you and count how many cars have more than one person in them. Then, if you can, have a look at the horizon and try to spot the yellow band of smog which is sometimes visible from certain high up places on a wind-free day. We want sustainability. #bethechange #carpooltouni
