Whilst making a complaint against Derby City Council it became apparent that they have no procedure or resources to check that planning conditions are being adhered to. A senior planning officer told me that they rely on the public to report instances of non-compliance. This is a national problem, not just specific to Derby. Conditions are intended to protect the amenity and privacy of neighbours and to ensure that development is of a reasonable standard.
