Whitaker Report On Friday we had cloudy conditions and drizzle - TopicsExpress

Whitaker Report On Friday we had cloudy conditions and drizzle in the morning and in the afternoon we had sunshine with the temperature in the 50s. Yesterday we caught a break with the wind and it finally stopped blowing so leaves were not a factor. The fishing pressure did increase as anglers started arriving for the long holiday weekend. The anglers we spoke with who fished the DSR reported that the action slowed up from the previous day. Anglers reported catching a few salmon first thing in the morning with an occasional steelhead throughout the day. Anglers stopping into the shop also reported having some action at the Blackhole, Staircase/Longbridge and Ball Park. We got mixed reports from anglers who fished the upper section of the river, some groups got into fish, while others did not. The anglers who had success, covered lots of water and worked hard for what they got. As of right now we have fish scattered in the river from top to bottom. Anglers in the Upper & Lower Fly Zone reported having success on black, brown and olive woolly buggers along with stoneflies.
