#Whitby Detectives investigating a serious assault in Whitby are appealing for information and urging witnesses to come forward. Incident 2 It occurred on the A171 at Whitby Bridge, at 2.45am on Tuesday 29 October 2013, involving two local men. As a result of the incident, a 21-year-old Whitby man, suffered an injury to his neck. He was treated at Scarborough District Hospital before being released later the same day (Tuesday 29 October). A 21-year-old man, also from Whitby, was arrested at the scene, on suspicion of wounding with intent. He is currently in police custody. Police officers and dogs carried out a search of the area. They recovered a weapon believed to have been discarded by the suspect. DC Phil Nockels, of Scarborough CID, said: Thankfully, the injuries suffered by the victim are not life threatening. However, the incident could have led to far more serious consequences. I know that there were a number of people in the area, at the time of the assault, who have not yet contacted the police. I ask that they come forward straight away, as they may have vital information that could help this investigation.
