White Comrades, where art thou?) It is my view that SA needed white people and Coloured people to have joined the ANC, the Congress Alliance, the movement to create a united non-racial South Africa, in large numbers twenty years down the line of democracy. Instead less than 3% of white people support the movement, and large numbers of Coloured people remain alienated from the movement. This is an epic fail of the ANC. Instead the ANC discarded the notion of reconciliation, alienated white people, plundered state coffers and focused on enriching their own members through the opportunities that democracy presented and created many black ANC millionaires & a black middle-class of ANC connected members in society, despite the fact that the Mandela ANC tried its best to bring white people into the broad bus of the ANC, by merging with the National Party & by reaching out to the right-wing formations in the white Afrikaner communities. There are those silly people and ignorant politicians within the ANC movement whose perspective are shaped by anger, blatant racism, or the need for selective back people to get rich, who believe that SA does not need white people. There political perspectives are understandable but reactionary and grounded in politics that shapes a new kind of ANC, currently taking form. To them the extreme racial polarization & the increasing racist incidents in our society is of some concern, but not as important as selective black people to get their hands on the white capital. In order to understand this, it is necessary to sincerely and frankly assess the reality of black and white people, their distinctive backgrounds, their education levels, their inputs into the economy at micro and macro levels, their developmental levels and relationship with modern human developments. It is not rocket science and merely require honesty. The reasons for the difference is important, but irrelevant in such an assessment. What is the ANC to do henceforth? At present the ANC is not even asking these questions, so it is unlikely that anything would change. The current ANC is quite reactionary as far as this particular issue is concerned , and is quite happy with the us and them situation to grow and fester the apartheid wounds within our society.
