White House says drone attacks against terrorist groups are “precise” and “lawful” : US drone attack on Afpak(the border region of pakistan and Afghanistan which is infested by terrorism) region has been under continuous criticisim not only from citizens of Pakistan but also from independet international right organizations. US argues that the drone programme was deployed mainly in cases where the capture of members of al-Qaeda and its affiliates, or other alternatives, proved impossible and hence they have to attack to kill them. Past week during Nawaj Sarrif visit, it was raised by right organizations in strong voice by highlighting the civilian death toll of drone attacks and argued that such killings were in some cases tantamount to “extrajudicial executions or war crimes”. In particular, a sharply-critical study by Amnesty International based on witness accounts, including from families of drone strike victims, said the circumstances of these killings were “disputed”, and claims by the Obama administration that individual assassinations based on “reliable intelligence, are extremely accurate”, did not appear convincing in the face of evidence. At the other hand, US has been focusing that drone attacks against terrorist groups were “precise”, “lawful” and “effective” and before each strike was undertaken there would be “near certainty that no civilians will be killed or injured… which is the highest standard they or any country could set”. And that US counterterrorism actions are in accordance with all applicable domestic and international law and that they are consistent with U.S. values and U.S. policy.” The sufferer of the attack is Pakistan and basically it is loss of sovereignity for it. In fact Pak does not have control on this issue and has to silently watch the ongoing attacks on its soil from US. Basically, This is a price Pak has been paying for closing the eyes against terrorism in the past.
