White folks: If I hear one more person use I dont have a racist bone in my body as an excuse to dismiss whats going on in this country, Im going to scream. Thats not good enough. Not being racist isnt just refraining from saying the N-word or perpetrating other forms of obnoxious bigotry. Fear can be just a strong a catalyst as hate when it comes to accepting policies, institutional practices, attitudes, etc. that exclude non-whites from inclusion and opportunity, whether its in the workplace, our schools, our neighborhoods, or anywhere else. You dont even have to fear non-whites to let this keep happening; you can just fear the exposure of your own failings were you to engage with this issue.
