Who Stole Our Young Men ? As a mother of sons I have longed carried a burden for the development of my sons. First I will quickly express my profound gratitude to my husband for his example, guidance and fortitude in preparing our sons as men. I am a firm believer it takes a man to raise a man” -quote by Timothy McGee-NCIS. However in a world that seems to have devalued the role of manhood, I at times have probably not recognized the dangers that lurk in the shadows of a society that has stolen our young men from their destiny. Their talents, their unique abilities, and their heritage as men, warrior/protectors , leaders, counselors, mentors, husbands, fathers with an array of desperately needed roles has been demeaned and demoted as unnecessary. I look around and see that our young men are disappearing, yes their physical frame is still visible – but the essence of who they are is becoming extinct. So a word of advice, warning, and encouragement to all mothers, fathers, grandparents, relatives and friends – if you find yourself in an influential role in the life of a young man – take it serious ! Because I fear the day will come when we look around and find them “no more”. (mom of sons)
