Its officially holiday season. ... I went to the Roxy’s a week ago and saw one of the best jazz jams I never paid for! It featured local jazz guitar treasure and internationally-recognized guitarist/excellent guy Peter Sprague! Ive heard a lot of great guitar work -- across many genre’s- classical, jazz, Spanish, flamenco, etc. and I was sitting in an intimate setting with one the true masters of his instrument right here in my home town. It was so fun! The place had a decent crowd, but there were actually empty tables. Best-kept secret in town, I was imagining there would be a line out the front door! The irony of it all is that it wasn’t on my radar! Or as marketers say, it wasn’t ‘top of mind’ with all the other noise vying for my attention. So this is to put this exceptional information on the TOP OF YOUR MIND: Peter Sprague is playing at the Roxy Café this Thursday night (12/11/14). If you were opening a fortune cookie right now it would say: You have good fortune! (Thats right, with an exclamation point.) * 7:00 PM - First set: Peter * 8:00 - Break * 8:15-ish - Second set: Peter and guests “Come on Down” is the password to get Happy Hour prices all night, Thursday Dec. 11th at the Roxy Café, downtown Encinitas (between D & E Sts.).
