Who are we 1Cr 13:1 ¶ Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. Tongue, as a member of the body, the church; to roar as the ocean roaring- sounding; a loud clanking sound. Charity is love. Even though one is blessed with tongues and they don’t have love it is then nothing what they are just a loud noise. It takes love to overcome all. not just noise. 1Cr 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 1. One can have all of these and still be nothing if they have not charity, love. 1Cr 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 2. Without love there is no gain, profit. You can give to the needy. Burned: to be consumed with fire, without love who are you? nothing. 1Cr 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 3. To persevere patiently and bravely, is suffereth long.. Love is kind to all; never envies others, never elevates itself, lives in humbleness, never has a fat head- a prideful spirit. Pride goeth before the fall. 1Cr 13:5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 4. Love thinks about others first, is slow to anger, and does not think evilly, forgiveness is loves game, not revenge, and is not driven to anger to punish others. 1Cr 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 5. Do we rejoice in injustice, calamity, the downfall of others, or are we happy when we are in truth? without love in us, there is nothing in us, an empty shell. 1Cr 13:7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things 6. When we have love it is easy to endure whatever comes upon us; it is easy to hope for the best in all situations knowing God is in control; it is easy to carry what life brings because we know it is, to bring us to our destination, heaven. , 1Cr 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whetherthere be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 7. If we have love we exist forever without fear of failing; all the prophecies, the tongues, and all the knowledge, that is acquired, will all fade away as time does into oblivion. 1Cr 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 1Cr 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 8. When Jesus comes for his bride, the church, since we as member of the church shall not need knowledge or prophesies because love will have replaced the need for those things’ 1Cr 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 9. When we become men, spiritually, full of the grace of love, God, we will have left childhood behind with it’s failures, broken dreams, heartaches. 1Cr 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 10. Still here in this world working out our own salvation; till the the church reaches fruition; then our eyes and sight will be fully opened, and our knowledge of who we are in the church of the living God will be made manifest unto us. 1Cr 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. 11. As we started in the beginning even if you have hope and faith it is not enough; the word here says to live in hope, faith and charity. The greatest of these Jesus: charity is the absolute necessity.
