Who hasnt seen Someecards before and thought they were hilarious? I thought they were, too, until they posted a card (which I refuse to share, even for demonstrations sake) that said, Sorry youre upset that Noah isnt as accurate as the fictional book on which its based. I have some friends who will think this is funny, and many who will (as I do) find it abhorrent. But someone tell me if it became okay to publicly mock the Quran and offend followers of Islam in the name of a joke. Let me know if its become acceptable to post about how ridiculous the Torah (which, by the way, shares a lot of the same stories with the Old Testament) is for a laugh. Theres a difference between making light of the actions of religious PEOPLE and mocking their RELIGION. This crosses a line. I would be naïve to expect everyone to believe the same things I believe, but I was raised to have some respect. To know that some things ARE sacred, whether I agree with them or not. And whether you agree with ME or not, I hope youll share the same sadness I do for a world that not only thinks this is okay, but calls it entertainment.
