Who is Responsible for this Countries Dilemma? Part 1 If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.” 2Ch 7:14-15, New King James Version The fact that the United States is in a full on downward spiral is beyond dispute. Between the actions of the government and the news media’s reporting of them, along with the blatant lawless that is prevailing among the citizenry, a crystal clear picture of a country disintegrating is painted. If one were to pay attention to the social media (Facebook, Tweeter, et al) one would come to believe that it is the Government’s, specifically the President’s, fault for our countries condition. Conservatives are constantly accusing the administration (forgetting they are a part of that administration) while the liberals blame everything on the conservatives. The finger is always pointing at others. Up until a couple of years ago I was one of those leveling the accusations. I was disrespectful of those in authority on my Facebook page and in general conversation. Then one morning Holy Spirit took me to 1 Peter 4:17 which says, “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” (New King James Version) Gibbs slap. Twice. I have not opened my mouth about the government since. The Watchman’s purpose is to hear the voice of the Father and give warning to His people, calling them to repentance when it is necessary. It is certainly necessary. Approaching the situation from a political standpoint, who elected the officials? The People! Now, some of you are going to say, “I didn’t vote for them.” Well now, wait a minute. This country’s problems didn’t start with the current Presidency. It can be traced back in history through many administrations, both liberal and conservative. So the problem must not lie there. In 1 Samuel 8:4-9 there is a conversation recorded between the elders of Israel, Samuel the Prophet/Judge, and YHWH. In the conversation the elders said they wanted a king. It ticked Samuel off because they were rejecting Samuel and his sons (who by the way were pretty evil). So Samuel had a face-to-face with the LORD. God said lettem have a king. They aren’t rejecting you they are rejecting Me. Then He told Samuel to warn the people what the king would be like. Be a Berean and read through Chapter 8. It will be a wake-up call regarding both the government…and the Church. That story is not dissimilar to the story of our nation because it wasn’t Samuel’s or the kings fault. Who asked for a king? However, the issue does not lie with the voters. Oh, no. The cause of this country’s problems lies square on the shoulders of God’s people, the Church of Jesus Christ. Take another look at what Peter had to say. The ‘house of God’. Is that referring to a building made of bricks and wood and metal, etc? I think not. Paul says that we, the believer, are the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16; and the Body of Christ as the Temple in Ephesians 2:21). We need to wrap our heads around this thing and quit trying to pass the buck. The church has NOT been Jesus on the earth. Because of that WE are under judgment and if WE are under judgment what chance do the unbelievers in this country have? What more do the unbelievers have to lose in this whole deal? “If My People…”. Whoahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. What does that sound similar to? Don’t we live by “We The People”. Isn’t that exactly what Israel was saying to God? WE want. Oops, dropped the ball there we did. Father God lays the whole thing at the feet of His people. “If My people.” Not the people n the world. Not the government. His people! We’ve been served… More to come…
