Who is finding the progress through the points system as alarming as I am? In light of the new points system I have analysed our ponies points from when we began BS in June 30, 2012. I feel it is all a bit rushed and neither child or pony are really being given a fair chance at each height. In contrast our first pony who we competed for nearly 20 months BS he gained only 162 notional winnings. We didnt go to less shows with him. He was placed at Blue Chip and at other premier venues - he performed very consistently, regularly, and was placed pretty much at all the shows we went to. It was very unusual to not get a rosette(s) with him. Our next pony whom has 12 months record with us under the notional winnings and the new points system has gained approximately 424 points! I am now avoiding taking him to shows for fun as he is already out of Newcomers and dont want to jump him out of Fox - I dont think there is any merit in that for him? We plan to event him this year. i.e. not support local shows with him Our third pony has sj under the new system and has 7 months on his record with us and has already gained 285 points. It seems to me that if a pony can gain a minimum of 400 points a year (not jumping much more than 1 or 2 members cup, fox and nc) then that is way disproportionate to the 150 points each for both Novice and discovery and 200 points each for Newcomers and Fox. Depending on the starting point a pony could easily jump himself out of Newcomers and Fox within one calendar year. And of course some have been disadvantaged by competing against the ponies who managed to drop down when their points were revisited with the change over! But that is not what this post is about...but like me who is concerned about the rapidness points are being accrued? I pledge the points for a DC at the very least are removed, and the total points awarded altered, or the divisions widened? Or another idea???
