Who is keen to Hike the Wild Coast with us (with Sinegugu Zukulu ): 14 - 19 December 2014 It is that time of the year where we say thanks to the universe for the year and enjoy the beauty of our planet. You are all invited to join us in connecting with nature at Wild Coast on the 14 - 19 December 2014. Find below are further details about our upcoming hike from Port St Johns to Coffee bay. The costs per person will be R1200 working on low numbers including transport to come back from Coffee Bay to Port St johns,camping fee, Guiding fee, management fee, Diesel for the bakkie , catering, and guide fees for the two hike leaders. You must be prepared to cater for yourselves for the night before we start hiking at Port St Johns. Guided hikes from Port St. Johns to Coffee Bay The Port St. Johns to Coffee Bay Hiking Trail goes through some of the most beautiful hiking landscape in South Africa. The trail hugs a stretch of coastline along the former Transkei homeland, and is unspoilt and barely touched by development. You will walk along rolling grassy hills dotted with colourful huts, idyllic beaches, estuaries flanked by thick coastal forest and cliffs with stunning sea views. If you’re hiking at the right time of the year, you will most likely see dolphins and whales. The duration of the hiking trail is five days with four overnight stops. Xhosa culture The hike passes through no less than eight rural Xhosa villages, giving you a chance to explore the rich culture of the Xhosa people. The guides are local Xhosa themselves and they will give you more insight into the daily life, rituals and customs of the people. During the days hike, the guides will point out local plants and tell you about their medicinal use and at night, they will entertain you with stories. Your guides and hosts The main services offered along the hiking trail - guiding and meals. The benefits of such a community developed, environmentally sensitive tourism will be felt not only by the hikers on the trail, but by the people of the communities – the guides, local shops and entrepreneurial enterprises along the route.We will have two guides on the trail, they will guid us through out the hike and also providing information about the area. Accommodation and meals For this hike we shall be using our own tents to camp on peoples homesteads for security reasons, and watching the stars, an experience that we do not get everyday.The tents will be provided. We will also cook for ourselves, reminding us of our roots and how the indigenous people lived. Please confirm ASAP.
