Who is the winner of Onam ? Even after the three weeks of Onam a clear winner for the prestigious season still to emerge. It is turning out to be a marathon race. Initial leader may not be the winner. Peruchazhi which had solo release took a big lead on Aug 29th onward but after September 5th it was the turn of Rajadhi Raja at box office. Finally Spathamasree Thaskara gears up to overtake both big M movies. We have a super hit, two hits, one average earner and a below average earner out of the 5 releases.While entertains values at festival time quality has been compromised completely. Sapthamasree Thaskara has the comfortable edge over the others by ruling the box office completely in its third week by a screen count of around 84 in the third week Thaskara ever since its release day is enjoying houseful shows and increased it screens from week after week. Strength to strength!. Collection steering to a Super Hit level without any major drop. It has net collection of 7.65 Crore in 18 days with around 5,000 shows. The long run and collections assured. The number one and the winner of Onam by all probables by the present trend. Collection may surpass 10 Crore mark easily. Super hit as of now by three weeks. The better WOM has worked magic for the film at box office. Prithviraj though out classed by co artists, still can claim the credit in both ways as an actor and producer. Peruchazhi entertained the fans of Mohanlal but that was for first 5 days but later on it needed something different to stand up with other releases which was lacking. The lone box office release helped the movie in big time but there after it lost the steam. Crossing 7,000 shows in fourth week and restricted to major cities only. Collects a gross of 11.40 Crore in 26 days in Kerala and still leads in collection but coming days are not much in revenues. Hit by the grace of good marketing and mass release. 65 % of total collection came from first week itself. Rajadhi Raja based purely on Mammooty’s stardom . Good first week and an above average second week cemented its hit status and whether it can be first Super Hit of Mega star after a long time is remained to be seen. The good first half is high plus point for this film. Covering 6,000 shows in third week that too in reasonable speed. Collection stands at a gross figure of 8.80 Crore in 19 days in Kerala only. It enjoys a fifty plus screens in third week and most likely it will overtake Peruchazhi in show count in coming week. Super Hit week next week? Fingers crossed! Bhaiya Bhaiya the hit combo of Kunchako Boban – Biju menon worked a bit at box office and it has earned a decent and better collection compared to last outing like 3 dots. Collection is around gross of 5.15 crore in 19 days, an average earner. Villali Veeran consecutive setback for Janapriya nayakan Dileep. Relegated as the last choice among Onam release . Collection was at average level from the start and it was never in serious contention at box office. Gross of 4.75 Crore in 18 days. Bad time! But it should be admitted that due to the presence of Dileep only it didn’t turn out to a disaster. At regular box office; Njan – Ranjith – Dulquar gets good reviews but Dulquar has yet again misses a hatrick at box office. One block buster and Mega Hit to his credit in 2014. Lucky year though. This film most unlikely to get box office reward by going through initial trends. Ranjith fails to bull eye for the second time.
