Who is your mother? Tell me, you who are under the Law, are you not aware of what the Law says? For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary way; but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a promise. These things may be taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One covenant is fro Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother....Now you, brothers like Isaac, are children of promise. At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. But what does the Scripture say? Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave womans son will never share in the inheritance with the free womans son. Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. Galatians 4: 21-31 This is what The Bible is saying, 1. There are two ways of doing things, the normal way or the supernatural way through a promise. 2. What is born as a result of a promise is superior than what is born in an ordinary way. 3.We have two covenants, one from Mount Sinai in the current Jerusalem, which represents the Law given to Moses. The Law gives rise to children born as slaves to it. As slaves they dont have any rights. They work for their master for a wage. They are not heirs to anything. If they keep the Law they get blessings, if they dont, they get curses. That is what the Law does. The other covenant is of the children of promise like Isaac. Our mother is from the Jerusalem that is above and we are free, we are children born by the power of the Spirit not the Law. We have an inheritance in heaven from our Father. 4.The two sons do not live in harmony. The children born in the ordinary way or the Law, persecutes the children born of the Spirit, or those that accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Anyone knows how much the Law keepers persecuted Jesus. The Law and the Holy Spirit can not work together because the Law fights the Spirit. 5. We must get rid of the slave woman and her son. We must get rid of the Law from Mount Sinai which is the Jerusalem on earth and accept the Jerusalem from above, which comes via the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit we get to be heirs to the riches in heaven. The Law is not capable of making us inherit anything but only through the Spirit. We are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. Galatians 4:31 Our mother is the Holy Spirit and not the Law.
