Who knew??? Atheist can be just as diverse as believers...including some that are every bit as stubborn, resistant to logic, and dogmatic as any fundamentalist Christian. Well, actually, I did know this. I have even commented about it to some of my friends, albeit not publicly. In the interest of full-disclosure, I fall into the category of the intellectual atheist/agnostic. Still, I am astounded by how human nature shows itself across populations, without regard to belief systems. Read some of the comments...mostly from atheists/agnostics. They are a riot. It just goes to show that prejudices and fanaticisms are part of the human condition and have little to do with any particular system of belief...unless that system of belief incorporates and ratifies the prejudice or extreme belief into its scheme. If that happens, the prejudices and extreme ideas become institutionalized, passed down from generation to generation. We see evidence of that everywhere in our own culture.
