Who needs to train realistically for self-defense? A lot of instructors, most in my opinion, teach techniques that have little value in real combat. The instructor doesnt care, because he or she has never faced a life and death fight before, nor are they likely to be in one (I speak about the majority). The same goes for their students. The accountant student, the banker student, the housewife has a low probability of being attacked. So, with this in mind the fantasy techniques can be taught with virtually no consequences, and the business goes on. On the other hand, I am on real military missions throughout the year where I can face a potential enemy. I cant afford to cheat myself when it comes to training to survive real conflict. At least half of my students are professionals: military, police, corrections, bodyguards, private security, and the like. I have to teach them what really works on the streets and battlefields. Thats why I teach Reality-Based Personal Protection. Be A Hard Target.
