Who remembers Vampire In The Night Janitorial? This guy would walk around in his cowboy hat, Daisy Duke shorts, and boots. He always had a great smile. One day Im driving the 102.5 KDON van on N Main Street. Vampire is crossing the street just about where the old Blockbuster Video was, and BOOM! He gets hit by a car. Youre never really prepared to witness something like that, and normally, I would have gotten outta my vehicle, to make sure he was OK. The car that hit him however, took off. I called 911, explained what happened, and told the dispatcher that i was pursuing the vehicle. I gave a complete description of the car and followed him into the Thriftys parking lot on Alvin Drive. The police didnt take long to get the guy. My KDON van was pretty easy to spot. It turned out the guy was drunk. I later found out that Vampire, although pretty banged up, was going to be ok. Having lived in Phoenix for the last 12 years, I wasnt sure if he was still alive. I heard he was. Thats great. Sometimes, the most important people in a community are neither rich or famous. They just stand out in a crowd.
