Who wants to play soap opera? Someone who who has only known me for a little while has sent me this. You might like to sit down. I just came across a post in my news feed from last Friday that was all about you. Here are some of the things said below. How much of this is fact? Apparently none of my friends have seen Proff Galah whacking a galah away from himself with a stick repetitively. Anyone who has seen that video would not be friends with him. Good Ol Bob! We fell out years ago over the way he treats his birds!! Hmmm i always wonder too why he keep losing birds I really tried my best to show him more positive ways to work with his birds. But he just wasnt interested. he liked to tease them. The final straw for me was when he was spraying listerine on a bird for plucking. he is a breeder now I have seen indian ringnecks. looks like he has set up a few ekkie pairs too now. he has been taking in wildies too, severely injured ones and keeping them!. So the poor lady has actually had to ask me if any of this is true. So lets answer her concerns, shall we? The lady asserts: Apparently none of my friends have seen Proff Galah whacking a galah away from himself with a stick repetitively. Anyone who has seen that video would not be friends with him. Answer: That would be the video of Peter when we tried to let him live free. https://youtube/watch?v=ZetGGv8zVq0 Peters previous owner is a page member, so she will see this. Anyone who knows Peters history is aware of what is happening in this video, and I often show it in reply to behaviour questions. I can explain in detail if anyone doesnt know his story. Or Christine Robertson can. Next,.... The lady asserts: Hmmm i always wonder too why he keep losing birds Answer: I am not missing any birds Proff was lost for nearly a year and baby wandered off to live with Hong Quen up the road. They are both fine and well and here. I havent EVER lost a bird whom I didnt locate. So not sure where that is coming from. The lady asserts: he(sic) liked to tease them. The final straw for me was when he was spraying listerine(sic) on a bird for plucking. Answer: Not sure about the teasing allegation. If anyone can remind how I tease my birds, I am all open if somebody wants to jog my memory. I remember the Listerine Issue. I even Guardedly recommended this recently. When I had my 2nd kidney transplant, Proff started plucking his chest. Knowing it was in his head and not a health issue, I misted him with a 1/10 solution of Purple Listerine. It tastes foul, and it cured Proff of his bad habit. So misting him with a 1/10 solution, is a tiny bit different to spraying him Listerine. Now here is the best one,..... The lady asserts: he(sic) is a breeder now I have seen indian ringnecks. looks like he has set up a few ekkie pairs too now. Answer: I have Fred and Ginger and Sharnie. The legal terms of Sharnies adoption state she may not be used for any breeding. The lady may not have seen the posts where any of Gingers accidental/incidental births would be re-homed FREE to anyone who could offer a perfect living environment for them. Both birds have breeding boxes. Sharnie is currently sitting on fake eggs. Indian Ring-necks? When I put Eclectus breeding boxes in the aviary, Bruce wanted to breed. Being as I am against breeding, I re-homed Bruce and Wayne to an aviary with 14 other Indian Ringnecks. I had to pay for that privilege.. Anyone who has ever given me money for a bird should speak up. The lady asserts: he(sic) has been taking in wildies too, severely injured ones and keeping them! Answer: Minton Farm Animal Rescue helped me get a permit from the department of National parks and wildlife, so I could care for injured native birds in my area. I am the first port of call for 3 of the local vets who get injured birds thrust upon them from members of the public. Birds that can freed when healed, are freed. I always try to save them first, sometimes against veterinary advice. Troy was of those birds. I also have a one armed seagull, coz I am his last chance saloon. I hope this helps answer any concerns any of you may have. I would also invite you to un-friend me on FB if you feel differently about me reading all this soap opera stuff. If anyone would like to remind me where I am falling down in my bird care, I am always open to criticism. Because most of you bird people are completely nutty, the identity of the lady who made these assertions shall remain private. I would however invite or her apparently many(?) supporters to pop in and to show me where I am going wrong. If Any person has encounters with me in person that they found uncomfortable or close to bird abuse should feel free to back the lady up. I try to be an open book, good or bad.
