Who was Tyeshe E. Anderson Miles College student Tyeshe Anderson had a promising future as an educator or possibly an engineer. Unfortunately fate had other plans for her as she met an untimely death on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at approximately 9:00 a.m. Tyeshe was en route to Miles from Pleasant Grove for an internship class when she apparently lost control of her car and was ejected from the vehicle and killed instantly. The news of Tyeshe’s death stunned the Miles College family. Tyeshe was a senior secondary education major with a concentration in mathematics and a minor in science, who was scheduled to begin teaching mathematics that fall in her hometown of Mobile. She was very involved in campus activities such as Education Club, the Miles College Golden Voices Choir, the flag corps of the Miles College Purple Marching Machine, student ambassador, residence hall advisor, peer tutor and the vice president of the Delta Eta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. She was a very gregarious person who loved interacting with people and was also selected to participate in the Leading Edge Program, which is designed to groom young college level women for future leadership roles. Tyeshe’s traumatic death sent shock waves of immeasurable sorrow to the community. Her presence, cheerfulness, love of people and willingness to work with everyone has been sorely missed by the lives of those she touched. Tyeshe was a 1996 graduate of Daphne High School. She continued her studies at Bishop State Community College and in the spring of 1999, enrolled at Miles College. She is survived by her parents Gloria Jean Anderson and Sylvester Day, four sisters, Angela, Valerie, Chianta and Briana and one brother, Amego Anderson.
