Whoopi is not the best source of wisdom. She once made an attempt to distinguish rape from rape rape. WHAT?! The other women had it right. Victim-blaming. Even the victim blaming herself is victim-blaming. Having watched the video, Ray Rice did not hit in self-defense. He hit in retaliation to assert a position of power. Rice waited for the elevator doors to close thinking thered be no witnesses. It was not a measured response in any way. Janay is responsible for one light hit. Ray is responsible for two punches that knocked her out, dragging her out of the elevator, and kicking her. Whoopi is essentially saying that it was Janay Rice who punched herself in the face twice with Ray Rices fists, which slammed her against an elevator wall and knocked her out, then dragged herself out of the elevator and kicked herself with Rays foot.
