Whose Side Are You On? Blacks vs. Cops Christians vs. Muslems Israelis vs. Palestinians Republicans vs. Democrats Privilege vs. Poverty What would it take for you to say, Im not on any side? What would it take for you to stop blaming someone else and simply take 100% accountability to let go of the self-protective ego that needs to be right, and simply look for a viable solution to the existing problem? What personal beliefs would you need to question? What fears would you need to face? What risks would you need to take? What actions would you need to initiate? As we enter 2015, lets watch ourselves very carefully. Lets change our positioned thinking into one that is willing to not only hear both sides of any position, but also willing to listen until we truly understand others views. Lets catch ourselves when we find ourselves taking sides and simply disengage. Stop talking and start listening. Ask questions. Lets seek to understand the complexity of the other side until we personally feel ourselves loosening the grip we have on our position. Lets step back and ask, How do we find a solution to the problem that will work for everyone? What needs to be done that involves everyone? It wont be easy. I never promised you a rose garden, but it is a way we as individuals can contribute to healing our world and make a difference. Perhaps then we can have a Happy New Year. Many Blessings, Jo
